"Big time regrets"
Purchased through Home Depot 9/2010. Took out original, 30 year old cabinets and put in Thomasville. The overall look of the kitchen was beautiful. (Langston in Clove). Within 6 months, I had the exact issues already noted on this site. Spots where the finish just completely smudged off. My trash can pull out drawer front is raising and actually developing hairline splits? I would never recommend the quality of these cabinets to anyone. I paid $10,000, and that was some hard cash to come up with. I trusted my hd designer to provide me my once in a lifetime dream kitchen, and I am ill each time I see a new mark, crack, etc. The company will not even send me matching stain so I can attempt to correct the marks. If I had it to do over, I would have a local build the cabinets. I have pulled out all the paperwork in preparation of contacting hd for at least 1 more replacement door. So far, they have followed through with sending new doors. However, these don't always match what is installed so then I must reorder.

"Underachievers"
Like others, I was deceived by a brand name. That and the fact that at this price, the cabinet should've been perfect. This was a single bath vanity, custom made to maximize our small bathroom; so a large bottom drawer and two door above it. I paid a ton to get just what I wanted. When we opened the box, we saw a big gash on the corner, and smaller flaws on the doors. Home Depot couldn't do anything fast, so we had to install it; we couldn't live without a bathroom. It took many weeks for Jason Brody in Boston to come out and repeatedly say they would've replaced it, but we installed it so what can he do? I finally got him to pay for a furniture repair guy to fix the corner and replace the drawer front & doors. He never followed up and the parts sat at HD for weeks because he had them sent with no tags/info. Most important: lucky we got these replacements because not only are the initial flaws there, but the dark coffee finish is bubbling up on one door. Ech. (The style is Cabbott maple)

"Poor Construction and Missing Doors are NOT what I expected from Thomasville!"
After over a year of planning I decided to spurge on cabinets for my new office and scrapbook room which is the first room you see off the foyer when you walk into my home. So I decided if I was going to do it I was going to do it right... with Thomasville! They were highly recommended from my Kitchen Designer at Home Depot. I spent over $7,000 on these cabinets and I got less than $5,000 worth of quality! Ridiculous! It took 4 weeks to get them, which is fine, but then they came incomplete with 9 missing doors and 2 missing cabinets, One of doors was damaged on the corner and the overall construction of the cabinets was not good or what I expected from Thomasville. I was very disappointed to say the least. Then to top it off, there was a dirty boot print on the inside of one of the panels of a cabinet. Yes, I could wipe it off, but really? This just tells me where the mindset of the workers in factory is if they couldn't even clean off a dirty foot print on an already damaged cabinet. Quality Control was clearly not a priority with my order of 10 cabinets. Do I like the look of doors and the color?...Yes! However, I'm afraid to say that I am extremely disappointed with the quality and missing doors which apparently on "back order". Will I get the doors and cabinets? ...Of course, but I have spent a lot of time on cleaning up this mess and now I will have to wait even longer to order countertops because I can't even install the base cabinets that did come (minus doors). I feel Home Depot is trying to get to the bottom of it and I appreciate that, but I have a feeling Thomasville is going to make excuses on this issue. Overall, for what I spent on these cabinets, I could've spent half the price on cheaper cabinets and received the same quality. I know not every order from Thomasville is like this kind of mess, obviously because I wouldn't have ordered them to begin with, but order was not satisfactory and I'm disappointed that the Thomasville name couldn't hold up to its standard this time.

"Recommended, would use again"
I went with Thomasville because I fell in love with their Whiskey Black cabinet finish and I went with Home Depot because I could get 2 years free financing. Both Home Depot and Thomasville were wonderful to work with. My designer at Home Depot jumped through hoops to make sure I was completely satisfied. When people walk into my kitchen, they gasp. It has become a common occurrence. It's been one year and I have had no problems with my cabinets. My only complaint is, as a previous posted mentioned, the drawer space is smaller than I expected. They use big heavy hardware for the soft close feature and it takes up space on the bottom of the drawer too, making the drawers a little on the shallow side. We did upgrade to the plywood sides making for a nice solid cabinet. I love the fact that they have a lifetime warranty but I do hope I never have to use it. I would recommend Thomasville cabinets and I would use them again.

"Finish problems, fingerprints wont come off, looks cheap."
I've only had these cabinets for 4 days and am very disappointed. I ordered a three piece island, 24" microwave cabinet, 36" 3 drawer and a 12" cookie sheet cabinet. Firstly, the finish is horrible. It is supposed to be black distressed but I'm still trying to find the distressed areas. I can't get any finger prints off of the black, it almost feels like plastic. It just looks cheap. On top of the awful finish all three drawers sag and one doesn't close. I paid over $3,000.00 for three pieces and thought they would be of better quality. I contacted Home Depot but they haven't gotten back to me. I would really love to return these cabinets but not sure if that an option. I'm just glad I haven't paid the Visa bill yet! I would not recommend buying cabinets from Home Depot or Thomasville Cabinets.

"Just after a year looking beat up and peeling"
Directly after our kitchen was done I was very happy because it was such a beautiful transformation. When I started putting utensils is the drawers I realized the depth of the Thomasville drawers was not ideal. Then I notices a haze forming on my cabinets only using silicone free wax free cleaner or just plain damp cloth. Then I notice big pieces of the stain coming off by the sink which after every time using the sink I made sure to wipe any splashes. My 3year old cabinets look 10+ years old. I spoke to a Thomasville rep in Home Depot where we purchased from and he said these are my fault and not governed by any warranty. We spent $15k for cabinets alone and I assumed Thomasville was top of the line or so I was told. We even went for better thicker construction and had sagging of a shelf. Our island cabinet fell apart when opened after delivery and that was directly replaced and the 2nd cabinet was fine. Wish I read reviews online before just taking word that Thomasville thru Home Depot was the same quality I had grew up learning Thomasville provided. A friend went with Kitchenkraft wish I did too!

"Very poor construction"
Buyer Beware is all I can say. I had ordered 21 pieces and out of those 8 had to be replaced due to extremely poor construction, and 1 piece was damaged by the delivery/transit, the cabinets were not square and the mortise joints were not glued properly, there were gaps of 1/4 " in the mortise joints, warped doors, wavy front hardwood, corner joints were not glued (3/16" of a staple will not hold a piece of particle board for very long). After a home visit from the Thomasville Rep and she asked me if I could fix the items that were in question I knew I was in trouble! After 5 weeks of waiting (Again) for replacements to arrive, to my horror I find again more poorly constructed cabinets, placing a 4' level across a cabinet front I found a 1/4" variance between top to bottom of a 42" top cabinet, at the mortise joint of another a 3/16" gap and the face frame I could press it and see it move. If you get charged for quality you should receive quality. As for quality control Thomasville does not seem to have any. And as far as customer appreciation goes Thomasville does not give compensation for delays in waiting for them to try and get things right. It's sorry about your luck buddy, but if you don't want our bargain basement cabinets with a lifetime warranty at a premium price you're sol.

"Drawers in cabinets too short"
I recently had Thomasville cabinets installed with drawers. The drawers are quite a bit shortly than the depth of the cabinet. In one instance, the cabinet depth is 14 inches and the drawer is only 8 inches deep. When Home Depot called Thomasville, I was told that Thomasville's response is "that's the way it's made." I am just at the beginning of trying to get resolution to this problem. The drawers are virtually useless. How absurd is it to manufacture drawers that go only half way as deep as the cabinet and not disclose this when the order is taken. Home Depot should stand behind the products they sell. They are not blameless.

"The boxes are poorly constructed and interior surface will not hold up"
Purchased from Home Depot and installed 3 months ago. The interior surfaces have brown marks. I was told it was from neglect. This occurred before the kitchen was even used. It was then blamed on the plumber. This was my husband so he knows that no water was left standing on the surface. The company is sending a rep. to see the problem in person. I wanted plywood cabinets the sales person said the new glues were really good now and that we would not have a problem. I do not know the surface that is used but it delaminating from the box easily. I want plywood boxes the surface used on the drawers, pullouts, spice rack and turnaround are much better. Is anyone else having this problem?

"Very dissatisfied after 13 years"
We purchased cabinets from Home Depot 12 years ago. The drawers have all been replaced because the bottoms were falling out, now the replacements are doing the same. Do not buy these! We have two pantries with the drawers and the cabinets are getting wider each year. The drawers fell down into the bottom. We put thicker spacers and screwed them to the side. The center bulges out 1.5" wider the the top . I also have a cabinet that isn't square and wasn't from day one. I wouldn't pull it out to replace because our counter top is porcelain tiles so I lived with the horrible cabinet. We paid over 30,000 no telling what would be today. Please please avoid this company at all costs. Also all the backs have come off with a slight bang. I purchased schrock cabinets at the same time, they hold tools, heavy ones too. They have gone through a beaten because they are in my mud room where we work on things, pot plants, washer and prepare vegetables, and they look brand new. Absolutely no problems of any kind. I wish I put them in my kitchen.

"Does not hold up to water"
Remodeled our kitchen three years ago. After a year and a half, the finish on the cabinets was coming off in spots. It looked like something had been splattered on them and took the finish off, but in multiple spots. The areas where it is happening is where water is most likely to drip. Idiot representative came out and said I had sprayed something on it (I do not use toxic chemicals in my kitchen and when I need to clean the cabinets I only use a damp cloth). He agreed to replace them as a "courtesy" even though he said I had clearly caused the problem. Again the only cleaners I use in my kitchen are water and ammonia free Windex, which the people who installed my granite told me to use. When I asked him what could reasonably cause finish to do this, he said mustard. I don't know about you, but I don't regularly spray mustard around my kitchen. Also suggested that perhaps my two dogs had urinated on them. I can safely say that did not occur! Now less than a year later, I am noticing the same thing happening again. Is anyone having an issue like this? Very frustrated since I paid $14 k for the cabinets!

"horrible cabinets"
These cabinets are very cheaply made. The hardware we got with the cabinets is oiled bronze but the finish rubs off as your open the cabinets. These knobs were almost $14.00 each. They do want to help with anything after the install is complete.

"thomasville cabinets from home depot"
Recently bought some cabinets from home depot. 17 Kitchen cabinets for about 4800.00 and about 400.00 in taxes(California). They had a sale that included 800.00 off and some freebies, such as spoon/knife drawer, self closing drawers, trash can drawers, free kitchen knobs for doors, free spice rack and some other free things. 15 were woodmark and 2 were thomasville because woodmark didn't have my size in two of the cabinets, had to pick up the 2 thomasville cabinets at home depot, (the woodmark ones were trucked to me), got the thomasville cabinets home and the door would not close all the way on one of them. You have to force it somewhat and the other was missing a piece of metal that holds the spices in the rack...called my designer/buyer/kitchen salesperson at home depot and she didn't think it was a big deal and I must be mistaken about it being a important piece. Told her it is a important piece and she said it wasn't a piece that was needed, told her I would be in with the cabinet to show her the next day. It was clear that telling someone over the phone on a missing cabinet piece wasn't going to work. I went in the next day and showed her the missing piece. She finally agreed it was important and would talk to the thomasville rep about getting another piece for it. Now that I have the woodmark cabinets here, 15 pieces and the thomasville side by side. I would say that the woodmark cabinets have better packing materials to keep the cabinets safe and the woodmark has better assembly and hardward than the thomasville cabinets but the woodmark has cheaper materials(particle board) than the thomasville cabinets(also particle board but seems better quality) The thomasville cabinets have better materials but assembly and hardware are not as good, also in restrospect I should have not got the extra two cabinets from thomasville because the grain look is different than the woodmark grain. They did send me two woodmark doors and some veneer for the sides of the thomasville cabinets to match the woodmark cabinets, so will have to hire someone to put the doors and veneer on. All in all, you get what you pay for. Both these products are cheaply made painted particle board. There is not a lot of real wood on them and so far doesn't look like they can take a lot of abuse, especially the woodmark brand. The particle board dents very easily around the edges, so you caution moving it around. If I had to do it all over again, I would have had someone local make them out of 5/8 or 3/4 inch plywood (not particle board, only because it dents too easily), and stained it myself. Also if you do go with home depot, you sometimes have to pay attention to detail on what you are going to get. Also you have to be a little pushy with the sales rep/designer because after the sale, they seem a little different after they get your money. So you might have to bug them a little if you have a problem, also if you get a pantry. Make sure you go over the details on that. Woodmark made me a 90 inch pantry, the problem was that my ceiling is also 90 inches, so as you tilt it into position, it hits the ceiling, so a portion has to be cut from the bottom. It would have been nice if they made me a removable bottom kick panel, but they didn't...oh well...like I said before...you get what you pay for...

"Poor Grade wood/poor customer service/stain variations"
We purchased Thomasville cherry cabinets from Home Depot to be used in a recreation room with a lovely granite countertop. The cherry wood was of a very poor grade with an overabundance of pitting and cracks. The baseboard pieces had a stained finish which did not match from piece to piece. Home Depot and Thomasville agreed to send replacements for a few of the many crappy doors. The new doors were of poorer quality than the first sets and were unusable.

"Poor quality"
We just picked up our Thomasville vanity. We paid extra for quality wood. What a disappointment. The drawers and sliders are installed crooked. The cabinet doors have numerous dings and pits. The stain on the fillers looks horrible. Obviously, Thomasville takes very little pride in their products. These will be going back to Home Despot where they belong.

"Poor workman"
I've installed Thomasville Cabinets before and liked them, previously I had purchased a frameless model. The new cabinets I ordered are terrible, the finish is splotchy and the drawer fronts are made with more than one peice of wood giving them an extremely ugly look. I will never buy cabinets from Home Depot again. If I could afford it I would throw these out and get a better brand.

"Cheap construction, horrible customer service"
We built our house ourselves, and selected Thomasville cabinets for the kitchen, bathrooms and game room. I was so torn between Thomasville and KraftMaid, but went with Thomasville because I was told repeated that they were top of the line. We spent $30,000 on Thomasville cabinets. We installed them ourselves, and therefore found that the construction of these cabinets is cheap and flimsy. The finish on the doors in also cheap looking, doesn't clean well and chips very easily. My sister in law has KraftMaid, and her cabinets are 10 years older than mine. Hers are beautiful, still look like brand new and the construction of the actual cabinets is much higher quality. To top things off, the glass shelves that were ordered for several cabinets were sent in the wrong size (too small, so we can't even have them cut down to size.) I called Thomasville several times, and was told that there was nothing they could do about the wrong size shelves being sent because they were notified a week later than is required (it took much longer to install since we were doing the installation ourselves, and we didn't realize until the cabinets were installed that the shelves were incorrect.) After spending $30k, I was appalled that they wouldn't spend $100 to satisfy a customer. I would never never never never never purchase any Thomasville product or recommend Thomasville to anyone. KraftMaid is a much better product.

"Look like plastic"
We went to the Home depot and ordered Thomasville painted Maple cabinets, We spent over 15,000.00 just on the cabinets. The cabinets came in and they look just like Plastic and they are Painted Maple, I hat them I waited my entire life for a new Kitchen and sew all theses Beautiful white Kitchens on line. And ended up with thomasville, I was told they were top of the line. I ended up with cheap looking junk. Now they are being installed and it's costing me another 2,000.00 in labor and I'm beside myself. Since we received the cabinets we have called and email several times and we haven't received a call back. It's a nightmare.

"Thomasville Gibson Cherry Cranberry Cabinets Review"
I have been an owner of these Thomasville Gibson Cherry Cranberry Cabinets for quite some time now. My husband and I decided to re-do the entire kitchen. I loved our choice of cabinetry. I love these cabinets because they look great with my counter tops. However, sometimes I wish I chose a darker color because it would match my dark granite counter tops better. I enjoyed working with Thomasville; I know it was a reliable company, and their customer service was extremely helpful. This brand was recommended to me by a close friend, and now my husband and I recommend it to all of our friends and co-workers. We have not had to repair these cabinets at any time so far, so I would definitely buy this brand again. These cabinets are still in new condition and receive so many compliments when people enter my kitchen. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

"Amazing kitchen transformation!"
We bought a "fixer-upper" as our first home and the kitchen was very ugly and dated. The cabinets were falling apart. We did a lot of looking and finally settled on Thomasville cabinets from Home Depot. We were able to customize them to fit our needs. I loved that we could go simple and save some money or add the extra features that we really wanted. My favorite thing about the cabinets is that we were able to purchase a pantry unit and we ended up doubling our cabinet storage space. Also, the designs available, made the best use of our kitchen space. The natural wood is beautiful and the color is perfect. My only concern is that the maple seems to be a softer wood and has the potential to get dents and damage. With that said, we have enjoyed these cabinets for nearly eight months with no problems. Installation was a breeze!
