"Poor Craftsmanship"
I purchased the "cathedral white" cabinets in October 2008. The laminate has peeled off of several cabinet doors in 2013. The cabinets are no longer white but a dingy white. They are very difficult to clean. The sink cabinet is poorly made also. I will never buy from this company again. Also these cabinets aren't cheap!

"Very Unsatisfied Customer"
What seemed to be a great thing, turned into something I wished I didn't have to do. Huge headache. Had to have 3 cabinets, a drawer, the panel on top of sink cabinet replaced. 1 of the 3 cabinets after replacing them, 2 days later face front pulled away from cabinet was missing glue, the panel under the sink, above doors on sink cabinet. They would not replace. My cabinets have a glazing on them. The panel did not so to fix it they sent us a staining pen to outline where the darker lines should be. Haven't tried it yet, afraid to try. We also have the soft close which is great. Today one quit working. Don't even want to think about trying to get that fixed. The company has won. The consumer was worn down after 2 and a half months of a fight to get things done. Pay the extra 500.00 or so and be happier. No service back up, poor quality- glue and plastic to hold them together.

"Very Satisfied"
I am very satisfied with my cabinets, Lowes did a wonderful job. The quality of the cabinets meet my expectations. When people come over they think they are custom cabinets and I get so many compliments about the quality. When they delivered them, my husband and I carefully inspected each box, and there were 3 cabinet doors with minor imperfections in the paint, scratches on one door, and one end cabinet drawer was cracked. I called the company right away and the representative was so helpful. They replace all 3 doors and shipped me a brand new end cabinet within one week. I am so glad I went with this brand cabinet. My kitchen is so beautiful!

"Kitchen Cabinets"
After much research, I decided to go with the Shenandoah maple cabinets with hazelnut glaze for my new kitchen cabinets. I purchased them through Lowe's in Gaithersburg, MD and I will be honest to say that I love the way the are looking (we are half way done with the kitchen) and the contractor assigned to us couldn't have been more courteous and professional. He knows his stuff and is doing a great job installing the cabinets. I was very nervous at the beginning because friends would tell me not to go with HD or Lowe's because their contractors may not be reliable or know what they're doing--WRONG! I can't speak for HD but I can definitely speak for Lowe's. I'm very glad I went with Loews and Shenandoah.

"Beautiful"
Just had my Shenandoah maple coffee glaze cabinets installed. They look beautiful. Upgraded to all wood. Look better than the display of Thomasville. Love them.

"Not exceptional, but pretty good"
Contractor, or that's what hes calls himself, purchased 29 cabinets from Lowes of Shenanadoah Mission sytle, Maple Hazelnut Glaze, full over-lay cabinets with 5-pc. Drawer fronts. Aesthetically they look beautiful. Joinery of cabinets faces is less that perfect and found one drawer with a completely cracked open dovetails, which I glued back together. Contractor tried to pass off skin as toekick and provided no qtr. Round and failed to order fillers for full overlay doors-BIG mistake! He was sent packing, will be calling trim carpenter to use 1/2 plywood toekick and quarter round. Cabinets have a nice finish that repels gunk. Glaze is barely there, it was soooo wiped away. They need more glaze! Seams definitely required skins and soft close drawers needed lots of adjustment, one may need to be replaced, Soft close cabinets are wonderful! Used large cove crown molding that looks awesome. All pieces, while not packaged that great, arrived without mars or dings. One cabinet inside door (small strip) was missed with paint, but no real big deal to fix. Matched perfectly with the Santa Cecilia Gold granite. Used a Corstone Primrose undermount apron front sink in matte bone with Gourmatier American Classic model#GS8895ACL Oil Rubbed bronze. Flooring was ceramic wood tile, natural chocolate. Colors and products were perfect, wished I could say the same for the lousy contractor work! He was awful! Took 9 weeks! Overall satisfied with quality, finish is tough and should be very resilient in a kitchen environment.

"PA/Mission Painted Maple Glaze"
Just received $16,000 worth of Shenandoah Mission Maple Hazelnut Glaze cabinets. I unboxed one cabinet and was surprised to see that while the cabinet was seated snugly with a top & bottom cardboard ends, the cabinet shipped sitting loosely inside a cardboard box, no styrofoam or other protection....so---I was not shocked to find a small ding on this one cabinet...there a tons more boxes to open, so I am a little nervous. I am surprised at how flimsy the packaging is...it is truly minimal. I have ordered plenty of furniture pieces online that needed to be shipped and this is the chinciest packaging I have seen. I will write more when my kitchen remodel has progressed to the installation phase. Keeping my fingers crossed.

"Beware of Dominion Maple Natural Cabinets - Turned Out Pink"
Ordered cabinets on 4-5-13 from Shenandoah through my local Lowes store who worked up the design and dimensions. They were delivered on 4-24 to my rental property in boxes. My mistake: did not open boxes to inspect prior to installation. When I went to check them out, I was horrified to find out that my natural maple cabinets (doors & drawers) were "pink" along with 3 other colors! The particle board ends were maple in color, and very cheep looking, the trim rails were almost white in color, and the other trim colors varied from a pink to a very light maple color. Had a rep from Shenandoah along with the sales person from Lowes come out and they said that was normal and eventually they would turn from pink to a more yellow color and look more like maple wood. They could give no estimate as to how long this might take as it depends on the amount of light coming into the kitchen, etc. There was absolutely no disclosure about this possibility when ordering this product. All the sales girl from Lowes said was "They might be lighter than the sample in the store that you are choosing from, but they will darken in time". The Rep and sales person from Lowes told me I could go in on Monday and re-order new cabinets and wait another 3 weeks or so. However, when I went in to see "a different" sales girl, I was told that there would be no credit given from Shenandoah as there was no problem with their product because eventually it would be as ordered! Have several issues with installation and poor workmanship which Lowes says they will come out to fix. I had to start over and choose different floor tile as what I had ordered and paid for looked horrible with the cabinetry.

"Value for the money"
Purchased Shenandoah Cabinets for my home in 2004, initaly had a few bowed doors, they sent replacments, 2008 hinge broke on the lazy sue they sent me a new one, 2013 bottom shelf on the lazy sue wore out, they sent me a new one. I suprised how the pull-outs hold up to my wife overloading. Never had any problems with them taking care of business. I'm a contractor and I expect wear, I would buy them again.

"Loved my cabinets"
Purchased cabinets from Lowes. For the price I paid completely satisfied. Customer service was awesome. Had to replace 2 cabinet fronts due to imperfections, but Shenandoah sent them within a week. Anybody doing kitchen renovation should realize that cabinets should be ordered in advance and deliver right before renov starts. This will give you time to replace any defective parts. This will cause less stress in the renovation process

"Poor Quality and Poor customer Service"
Ordered a large quantity of cabinets. Found that the store (Lowes) recommended the wrong size of cabinet and was really helpful to resolve from their end. The first box I opened had a clear quality problem and should not have left the factory. One of the factory cuts had splintering running up about 1 inch into the vaneer. Would have been clearly visible if installed. Called Shenandoah to express that they are not educating the stores properly about cabinet sizes and warranties and that they had a quality problems with the one cabinet that was opened. Their response was "well...you didn't need that size anyway...so we didn't do anything wrong...and would not make any accommodations". I wanted to be sure that they were not absolved of the quality problem and asked her to mention it in the report. She said she would...but seemed sarcastic and insincere. This review is assurance that Shenandoah and other customers are aware and that they should inspect their cabinets carefully immediately when they receive them. They seem to be lacking in the quality assurance department. If you pay for new cabinets...they should be in new condition. Nothing less! If Shenandoah was more willing to stand behind their product and protect their reputation, this would have been a much better review.

"Shenandoah Cabinet Disaster"
My Shenandoah cabinets were installed in July of 2008. As of 2012, the cabinets have peeling laminate, and the front frame has separated from the floor of one of the cabinets. The floor of the kitchen sink cabinet is warped because it was sloppily sealed, so moisture seeped thru and warped the particle board. The same cabinet has a foot long crack in the outer shell. Another cabinet placed alongside the refrigerator has black mold growing between the laminate and the inner shell. The laminate absorbed moisture from the tile floor. Two doors on the upper wall cabinets have laminate peeling from the doors. So, far the cabinet manufacturer and Lowes are in a dispute about who is at fault. The manufacturer has mailed me one door which I can't install. I am waiting on Lowes for the solution to this problem.

"I Love My Shenandoah Cabinets!"
I assist my elderly mother in maintaining her house now that she is on her own after the passing of my father. I thought about replacing her old kitchen cabinets for quite some time, but she was resistant to the idea because she was in love with her Vermont hand-made cabinets that were installed in the home when she purchased it. However, the artist who crafted those cabinets has been long retired. I tried brand after brand, but none had the authentic maple finish she wanted. When we discovered Shenandoah's Mission cabinet line our search was finally over. We chose maple with an auburn glaze, and now my mother loves her kitchen cabinets more than the handmade cabinets that they have replaced. When my mother puts her house up for sale, I am confident that the kitchen will be a major selling point thanks to the beautiful Shenandoah Mission cabinets.

"Does not maximize space"
Too much wasted space. Panel down center of cabinets prevents use of majority of cabinet. Even though same size as previous cabinets a lot of wasted space. Can't fit many bowls and items in cabinets without turning on side. Shelf holes poorly spaced. Cheap drawer design keeps popping out of back. Poor design provided by Lowes. Really poor communication and false information

" Staining variation unacceptable, poor build quality"
Bought Shenandoah - non glazed cabinets in 2007 and they were pretty nice. So thought in late 2010 that this was a no brainer -- so wrong. Cabinet door staining was really bad same cabinet would have two completely different shades of stain (really). Also the glazing application was poor. Asked for two cabinets for the bath at the same time updating the kitchen and the bath cabinet was completely bowed in the front when it arrived. Lowes installer did horrible work -- broke the valance over the sink twice because he was too lazy to predrill. Also tried to skip putting up scribe molding even though it was ordered and looked horrible without and his scribe cuts weren't exact and had to be reworked. I thought saving $2-4K on cabinets by going with Shenandoah over another guy with more options wa a no brainer as I only needed the basics on options but I didn't factor how much Shenandoah went down in the quality dept.

"Hardwood Cabinets from Lowes"
I have owned these cabinets for ten years. They have been extremely durable. The wood has held up to the conditions of my home. I burn wood and it gets very dry and yet the cabinets have held up through the years in the dry conditions. I've gone through two wood kitchen tables and two sets of chairs due to the dryness of the air and the cabinets act as if they will last forever. Two of the shelves had to be replaced due to slight sagging from having heavy glassware on them but by dispersing the weight, the issue was solved. They have outlasted my expectations. Like mentioned above, two shelves were replaced but as far as the main cabinet themselves, no issues at all. All hinges are in perfect working order and the shelves haven't had any issues since. I would definitely purchase this brand again and would highly recommend them to friend.

"Shenandoah Cabinets"
I have bluemont shenandoah in maple with coffee glaze. I think they are an excellent deal based on pricing, construction, and customer service. Of course I heard another customer upset because of the streaking in her cabinet doors. People who know nothing about wood should not be buying wood cabinets. She paid for a Volvo and wanted a Bentley, imagine that. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend Shenandoah (American Woodmark) to anyone.

"No Quality Inspection before Shipping"
Wish I had read the reviews here prior to my recent purchase! I am expected to accept replacement parts and rebuild the damaged cabinets that made it through the factory quality inspection and were delivered to my house! Oh yes, it is going to take an additional 7-10 days for the "replacement parts" to arrive so I will be storing the damaged cabinets and existing in my home without a kitchen for another 7-10 days.! I would not recommend buying cabinets from this company the quality of their workmanship leaves a lot to be desired!
