"Poor fabrication!"
The Merrillat Basics Wesley cabinets were provided by the builder for our new home. These cabinets are garbage. The boxes are nothing more than paper coated cardboard. They are scratched and peeling and we have not even moved into the home yet. The wood door fronts do not match and you can see where the wood pieces were glued together. This is very disappointing in a 1/2 million dollar home. Do not accept these cabinets, you will be very disappointed!

"Find a custom cabinet"
The builder would only let us use Reico kitchen and design and their product was Merrialt terrible cabinet! Color did not match that in the store I upgraded to full wood fronts, but sides look terrible and laminated Particle board construction, poorly done Have full open drawers with soft close - in house 8 months and drawer broken On delivery pantry door cracked. Was replaced and that door broke before installer left two whole sections had to be replaced because joints coming apart. I was told that original doors would be put back on new bases so color would match. They were not and now doors are different colors. I am so tired of dealing with Merrialt problems. Get a custom job. It won't cost that much more.

"Poor wormanship"
I bought my new house in 1998. The whole subdivision has Merillat cabinets and my house was no exception. They are of classic model in white. Couple of weeks ago I noticed one cabinet section is coming apart. When I closely inspected, I noticed the glued joints have opened up, a glue failure. This was the case where the cabinet was glued to the back cabinet wall and in front where the front frame (where the doors are attached) is attached to the cabinet. I called the company and they sent me a couple of forms and asked me to fill them and add photos and send them all in. I told them the cabinet has started to lean while empty. They did not care and insisted on their process. So it took about ten days to hear from them to say the warranty at the time was only for five years and they are no longer responsible. I questioned them how they can refuse responsibility when because of bad workmanship and low quality glue material my cabinet is falling apart. They did not care period. I am a real state investor, not only I will not purchase their product any longer, I will follow this up with better business bureau and any other other possible related organizations to make a report and record their poor dedication to their customers. If this company does not believe in their products should you?

"Rough sand like finish"
I bought a complete Merillat kitchen cabinet set through Modern Builders Supply. The quality of the cabinets were terrible. The finish on many of the cabinet doors had a rough sand like finish. The color did not match from cabinet to cabinet. There were imperfections in a couple drawers and on the sides of some cabinets. The worst part of the deal was replacement cabinets and door panels were just as bad as original shipment. Waiting on third shipment. Service is terrible from both Merillat and mbs. Would never recommend either company.

"Yellowing"
I was told that the thermafoil White Bay cabinets would never yellow but mine have. Company that sold them went out of business 6 months after my installation. Merillat suggested I have them professionally cleaned but they have yellowed in my bathrooms as well. I have also had a drawer that fell apart. I would never purchase another Merillat product.

"Clear coat is soft and scratches"
Wood grain and color is good. Construction good. The clear finish is soft. After two years in use the clear coat is scratching off near the handles on drawers and cabinets. It seems that the finish is not hard enough to resist human finger nails that brush against the surface when gripping the attached metal handles.

"Only for those not in a hurry"
We waited over 4 weeks for our cabinets. We could never get an update on the status of our order or when it would arrive. When they finally arrived, we had the wrong doors. Now we are waiting again with no eta on their arrival. Think twice about ordering from this company unless you have time to waste and don't care about customer service.

"Kitchen Cabinet Saver aka Coreguard"
I had sent e-mails to Anderson Inc and Merillat Cabinets and they stole my idea for a kitchen cabinet saver. They call it now Coreguard sink base. How can you trust either company when they steal your idea and don't notify you of the use of your idea? I am so disappointed in the way these big companies do business.

"Completely disappointed"
Completely dissatisfied with these cabinets. The only choice given through the contracting company but decided to go along with upgrade to classic. The cabinets were with scratches, dents and the gliders hardly glided. A kitchen renovation is a huge investment. I had been assured of the quality of these cabinets. Had I known this would be the final product, I would have opted to go elsewhere for the kitchen, butlers pantry and office area. You take pride in your product and customer service. I have yet to hear a response to my emails. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

"Merillat cabinets"
Just bought a major fixer condo with Merillat cabinets installed. The building and cabinets are 27 years old and the cabinets are the only thing I don't need to replace.

"7 years & still excellent cabinets"
Going on 7 years & my cabinets are still great. I paid for the bells & whistles which was a decision at the time I contemplated, But now im very happy I did. Only thing I wish I upgraded was the taller roll out trays. The basic ones are great for pots & pans but I decided to store canned & bottled goods in one of my bottom cabinets & could use a taller height tray. The style I chose was Sommerton Hill with the Sedona stain. And still to this day when new friends are over for the first time & see my kitchen, what comes outta their mouth is "wow". The Sedona finish just pops when you walk into the room. Now it's time to change my counter top.

"TERRIBLE customer service"
I realized before I ordered these cabinets that the quality would not be there. However, I ordered them for a laundry room in a tract home so I was only trying to match the kitchen cabinets. However if I had realized how much they do not care about their customers I would have thought twice about it. BUYER beware. These cabinets can be hard to find if you aren't a builder or in the industry, and there are is absolutely NO customer service once you own them

"Fronts look OK, but inside..."
These are the standard tract house kitchen cabinet. They look good from the outside, and new house sales tend to be all about appearance. But inside, they are junk. The boxes are made of plastic-covered particle board. The sides are stapled together with a couple of tiny staples that, as often as not, will not hold up under normal usage. The rollers are plastic and not durable. These are a poor investment and I could not recommend them to anyone who had an actual choice of cabinets.

"Cabinets, that you can't go wrong with."
I have owned my Merillat cabinets, going on two years now. They still look as if they were just installed. Very clean, stylish looking cabinets. I love how sturdy they are, and also the ease of having them in my kitchen. They really, make everything so easy to store. There is absolutely nothing that i dislike about these cabinets. They give you so many reasons to love them, there is really no reasons to dislike them. If these cabinets ever fail me or something happens for the need of repair, then i would deffinitally re purchase the same cabinets. Of course, i don't think that anything like that could ever happen to these beauties. Besides how sturdy they are, they really add to my homes decor. They make my kitchen stylsih, and make my home feel like home. Everytime that i have a guest over, they always ask me where did i purchase my cabinets. I have actually had a couple of friends, to purchase Merillat cabinets for their own homes, after seeing mine and recieving my reccomendation. Merillat cabinets are the best, and i am a fan for life.

"High quality and holding up well"
Just over a year ago we decided to remodel our kitchen that hadn't been touched since 1961. We wanted the same mid-century modern look we had but with natural wood instead of laminate. We went with the Fusion style in Maple Kona. We love the look and how sleek it is. It was difficult to find smooth front cabinets that weren't custom made from the ground up. The wood is a very high quality and had no defects when it was delivered. The doors are really beautiful and warm looking. Drawers and doors open smoothly and we haven't had a single problem with anything malfunctioning. The construction is sturdy and nicely done. We opted for a few organizing features like flatware drawers and they are very handy. I would definitely reccomend these cabinets to friends and would certainly buy them again. I am waiting until we can afford it and then will be installing Merillat cabinets in our master bathroom.

"Wonderful Design"
I have rented the apartment that the cabinets are in now for 3 years now. I like that the trim is beautiful and all of the cabinets are a perfect size for all the items i put inside, like cups, dinner plates, pots, pans, and even cooking trays. The wall hung style make is very efficient in space. I believe that they are 1/2" plywood which makes all the difference in quality, because most cabinets nowadays are particle board; My dad was even impressed with the quality and he is a carpenter. The only thing I do not like about it is the uniform color, the stain used on it was very bleak and not completely appealing. The product so far has not needed to be replaced or repaired other then one or two hinges that I needed to oil up a bit so they would stop squeaking when the cabinet doors where opened and closed. I would recommend this brand to all my friends and family because there is so much choice with this product.

"A Statement Maker"
We built our house nearly two years ago. When we built it, one of the things we most wanted were cherry cabinets. We knew we'd pay extra for them, but we wanted that to be a statement maker in the kitchen. Merillat's Spring Valley cabinets in a paprika finish does just that. It is the one thing that people first notice when they walk into our kitchen. It is the one thing we are the most happy about purchasing in our home. One of the great features of Merillat's cabinets is the design of the lower cabinets. On our island, we have great cabinets for pots, pans, and baking sheets. This is especially true with the three drawers that we have in the center of the island. My wife and I love the drawers because they are very deep (the bottom two) and have the Soft Action closing that makes it so that our son can't slam the drawer with the pots and pans in it. Even though we've lived in our house for two years, my wife still loves closing those drawers to see that mechanism in work. Another great feature of Merillat's cabinets is its construction. They are quality cabinets, both on the outside and inside. They are the kind of cabinets that will last as long as your house does. What made our decision even easier was the color and style options that Merillat could offer. They have a wide array of styles, door fronts, shapes, and finishes. We went with the Spring Valley because it was modern and sleek. The paprika finish is GORGEOUS. It works perfectly with our stainless steel appliances. I couldn't ask for better cabinets. I would highly recommend Merillat cabinets to anyone who wants to remodel their home or who plans on building from the ground up. You will never regret your decision to buy Merillat.

"Nice from a Distance"
We have Merillat cabinets not by choice, it was all we could get. We chose the Gourmet Kitchen option in our new home to get the best cabinets we could. What a disappointment! The quality is terrible, drawer glides cheap, particle board sides. I have purchased additional cabinets to match our existing units and they are even worse quality that those installed by the builder. Poor finish, damaged cabinets (even though the box was perfect so must have been damaged before it was packed) and just plain cheap. Oh, not the price just the quality. Cherry Cabinet uppers for $150 a foot after discount.

"After 27 years my Merillat cabinets took a beating"
I had Merillat cabinets & they took a beating over the 27 years we had them in our kitchen. When our kids finally moved out my wife & I decided to update out cabinets & countertop. We went with Merillat again after checking out some other brands. It was coming down to price & the Merillat Classic series did seem to give us our best bang for our buck. I still am very pleased with our new kitchen & expect to be for the next 27 years as I was before. I must comment to the previous post below me that all 4 cabinet brands we inquired did not allow changes or returns on our order since the said the were special order cabinets. The all explained to me as the cabinets were not stocked & were built from my order. I guess companies do not stock much as they used to & just build as ordered.

"Merillats return policy is you can't"
I have used Merillat cabinets several times and found them to be of sufficient quality. I will not be using them again due to their return policy. Accidently ordered the wrong color of some stock items to finish a project and the company refuses to exhange them. Seems I received what I ordered so too bad for me. They would however be willing to sell me more cabinets in the correct color.
