"Surface bubbling"
Nearly every door and drawer front have a bubbling on the surface. I notified IKEA last year and I am still waiting for replacements. I have rang several times and get passed from person to person until after nearly an hour, the telephone mysteriously disconnects. I would no longer recommend IKEA kitchens to anyone. What started out as my dream kitchen has become my nightmare. 25 years guarantee, good luck trying to get someone to honor it.

"Shelves shrinking and unit falling apart after 1 year"
Bought the ikea high cabinet one year ago, beautiful design, door lovely very spacious initially I was so pleased, but today upon opening ii, all the shelves fell on top of each other rendering all the glasses, contents broken. Worst this is a unit where you may dip in your head to search for items and everything could have landed on top of me or worse the kids. On inspection I found that similar with other products when putting the units back in that they all fell out again-the bonding agent or product they use seem to shrink the shelves leaving huge gaps and the brackets are such poor quality they don't hold well. I can not recommend this product to anybody in fact I think it is better to stay away from it it is not worth getting injured even if it looks lovely it is not fit for purpose. I never had such an experience with any other cabinet maker and have been using kitchen equipment for decades. The unit is going into the skip today.

"Ikea 25 years kitchen warranty is a joke"
First of all, I love Ikea. It is not top notch quality, but good looking furniture for an affordable price. I have several pieces of their furniture and most of them perform as can be expected from the price I paid. Now I also have an Ikea kitchen. It is 12 years old by now. Cabinets and drawers all work and look reasonable, but not the fronts. The paint is cracking and falling off. I have the Applad fronts. Mind you, they were quite cheap. But if I would have known that within a few years they would look like a wild cat went loose in my kitchen I would have spent more. I purchased fronts twice, the second time in 2014. At that time the local Houston store phone support was terrible and refused to do anything. Since I live 350 miles from the nearest store I left it at that and bought new ones - still Applad. In a few years they cracking started again. I've seen many pictures while googling and it all looks the same. I contacted Ikea phone support, since they claim a 25 year warranty. The lady over the phone was very nice and acknowledged that this is a problem with the painted fronts and I had to send in some pictures for the warranty claim. Two days later I got an email back saying that I have no claim and this is normal wear & tear. That is was got me really mad. First you agree that this is a problem and then suddenly it is all my own fault? I'm getting replacement fronts from a Canadian company that ships to the US. Much more expensive but hopefully also much more durable. I'm still recommending an Ikea kitchen but do be aware that warranty is a joke and make sure you purchase higher quality fronts, or repaint them yourself right away.

"Junk"
After 5 years of having our IKEA kitchen, there are major problems. 1. Faucet leaked inside cabinet, the extension hose is made out of plastic, not rubber. Good luck with repair parts. 2. Oven thermal fuse tripped several times. 3. Microwave push button broke after 4 years, still under warranty. 4. Dishwasher plastic parts break often. 5. Cabinet /drawer fronts are discolored differently, the larger ones turned yellow, lots of dings. Stay away.

"High end kitchen... wow!"
For a renovation of a 110-year old house, we were shocked to receive local bids of $80,000 plus for reasonable cabinets with shaker design. I had been reading fabulous reviews of IKEA cabinets, so I took the plunge, went through their awesome free online design service, priced everything out for $8000. This is a very large eat-in kitchen. I ordered replacement door samples from several companies before deciding on IKEA doors, and was shocked that everyone felt the IKEA door was more beautiful, better made, than the more expensive, much-touted replacements. We went with all Ikea cabs and have never looked back. They are beautiful, were fairly easy to assemble and install, 25 year warranty! (Nobody else has anything close to that). We were able to order gorgeous appliances, lights, hardware, counters and backsplash with the savings. With Interior Lighted cabinetry, soft-close doors, we were just all blown-away by the quality of these very affordable cabinets. Anyone who walks in just stops in their tracks. No one believes its an Ikea kitchen. We are so very happy with it, and went from skeptics to addicts. I am guessing the bad reviews on this site are from older models. They have really gotten their act together. Feel like we won the kitchen lottery.

"2 Failed delivery attemtps"
IKEA kitchen delivery utterly failed, 2nd attempt: 1/3 of Parts Missing. We were given last Sunday as our kitchen delivery date and spent the day anxiously waiting for the truck and the driver's call prior to arrival. It never came, instead we received a text that our delivery date had been rescheduled because the driver supposedly did not encounter anyone at the house! Imagine our surprise! There were in fact 4 adults at the home at that time, all of them on the lookout for the truck that never arrived. Now for the best part: During the second delivery attempt today, there was a full 1/3 of our 170 packages missing: 56 packages! Their delivery company is Incompetent and worst of all, they have the cheek to claim they did not encounter anyone at the home. We can just hope to have our kitchen together at some point. Stay Away.

"IKEA: Swedish for Avoid"
Spent 25000 on an IKEA kitchen. Included quality work tops, delivery, and installation. Half not delivered, had to go to store 3 times to collect parts - only first delivery is free, even if they leave most of it in the warehouse. Half not installed. The installation fee only covers one attempt to fit whatever is delivered. You have to pay more if you ever want to see them again. Product not as specified. Paid for quality stone work tops - got badly laminated mess. At least the customer service is consistent - they just don't care either.

"Ikea epa has no customer service"
IKEA started order for me during February kitchen sale, and after 58 minutes in hold with kitchen, know IKEA has not hired anyone for customer service in kitchen—just new orders for those making an appointment to place order. Error record on my IKEA contract has created a delay greater than 12 weeks, over-billing charges of $240. Paid. Plus another request for additional $191.: Each time you agree to additional charge related to IKEA error, a new charge appears while order remains on hold!

"Beautiful white cabinets!"
We installed these a couple of months ago, and the assembly and installation went smoothly. They are beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and we've had many positive comments on them. With their transitional style, they go perfectly in our traditional house with modern elements - they are very flexible. With "Prairie" style windows, the lines and shapes on the drawers fit perfectly. This is the fourth Ikea kitchen we've installed in the last 20 years in different homes we've lived in. Each has been terrific.

"You better hope you dont have problems"
I had an IKEA kitchen installed in 2018. Looked great but counters were not level and it caused problems. 1.5 years later I reached out to get a couple cabinets fixed. Well Good Luck! Traemand has left me hanging for months with no resolution. They dont respond to emails or texts. Very poor customer service. The worst I've Ever seen.

"The long term quality is not worth the short term savings!"
I absolutely cannot recommend this brand of cabinetry. Within the first year the white door/drawer fronts (only some) began yellowing. By year three the door/drawer fronts began delaminating, bubbling, raising, and cracking. The cabinets themselves and the soft close feature are fine. Buy the doors elsewhere. I have never criticized IKEA outright because at first glance the quality speaks for itself to anyone that comes into my home. I did research this specific model and year and found that IKEA is fully aware of the yellowing defect. It speaks volumes to me that, even knowing this, IKEA did not extend a recall. After hearing the horror stories of other consumers customer service experiences it leaves me doubtful there will be a happy outcome to my situation. Buyer beware! Don't buy #IKEA .

"Un satisified with the in store representative"
We were at the IKEA Abu Dhabi and had to wait for close to 2 hours for the sales guy just to make a receipt of our bought products. Also the staff was very ungrateful. We were surprised with the kind of attitude and service provided by the sales representative. I have never seen IKEA working like this in anyother country.

"I got scammed via kitchen event"
My first IKEA kitchen order: February 2019: I used planning services which costs $129, was told that money could be applied towards my kitchen order when I order. When I placed my order I was told the gift card comes after the order is placed - thus it could not be applied to the order. April 2019: Waited for the kitchen event - 15% gift card of entire order for 1 appliance. I tried ordering from April 8 as the event ends April 15. Got a hold of my kitchen planner April 10 and talked to him on the phone April 14 - he reassured me via phone that I do not have to finalize the entire order as the event applies to me that he put a note on my file. Could not reach him on April 15 and was transferred to another agent to place the order, who also reassured me that the event applies to my file as the order. Emailing back and forth April 15-16. I thought the order was placed from the last email they sent back April 16. May 2019: Noticed credit card wasn't charged and order hasn't arrived. Called back to check on file. June 2019: Found out I actually was supposed to be transferred to another department for credit card payment. Before I paid I asked again about the kitchen event as if it did not apply I would either wait or take the appliance out. Was once reassured that it applies and gift card comes after kitchen arrives. July 2019: Received order. Missing a few parts. Called back for them no issues. Called in again for the gift card. They has their second kitchen event of the year by then. Long calls to call in, call was disconnected twice in the middle, was reassured by last agent I spoke with that someone will call back within 24 hours. No call back. Aug 2019: Emailed about gift card. Was told it does not apply as order was placed in May but event was in June. Called in again for gift card - the resolution center lady told me she doesn't know how kitchen events works and what are the policies on that. Still chasing after my gift card. At least 8 hours spend on the phone now for the $1000 I was promised. Thank God I do my phone calls recorded. If I don't get that gift card next call is to Better Business Bureau. Very upset as I feel scammed into the order. The kitchen itself so far looks decent. Took my contractor 3 days to install. By the end it is the same costs as buying from the local cabinet supplier. I picked ikea kitchen mostly because they have a good warranty. If it is that much chasing around to get the warranty then there is no value in that either.

"Love the hardware, ordering is a huge hassle"
I've installed 4 Ikea kitchens in the past 10 years, all performed exceptionally well. Quality of all hardware and components is excellent, especially considering the price. To those complaining about drawer fronts and doors not lining up - everything is adjustable in multiple directions. Having said that, I would never recommend a novice to try and install one of those kitchens - it can only lead to frustration. Also, I am just in the process of ordering another kitchen from them, and the ordering process has become an absolute nightmare. The web site is almost impossible to navigate, the different sections like home planner and shopping are not integrated, payments through Chrome Browser get rejected... worst online shopping experience ever. But sadly, I still love their kitchens...

"Huge hassle"
Ordering kitchen cabinets through IKEA is a huge hassle, they're not helpful after they have your money. Tons of time designing then our order doesn't come twice after delivery confirmation. We still don't have them or know when we will get them. Also can't get anyone on the phone. Got hung up by automatic service three times. At this point I want to cancel our order all together.

"Buyer Be Ware"
In the store show room, they look amazing, but of course they have the ability for "perfect" walls, additional ways to assure that they are installed to look absolutely great. However in the real world they are not worth what we paid for them! The instructions are pictures only, no written detail instructions or suggestions if there is an issue. No phone number to call for assistance. The drawers were the worst to install, and do not line up and looks horrible. They came out just so so, not at all happy with them. I set back and can see all the imperfections. Do a detail search on the quality of the cabinets and request to see the install instructions prior to making a decision on purchasing.

"Do Not Waste Your Money!"
We saw a white kitchen on display and it looked and seemed very quality. We remodeled our entire kitchen, complete with appliances, through IKEA. Our cabinets and door/drawer fronts began turning yellow (at the 6 year mark) at varying rates, to the point it now looks like patchwork. Our original installer (who installed many of the kitchens on display at IKEA San Diego) came out to do some adjustments and was shocked to see the discoloration. He told us IKEA will definitely take care of this. We went to their customer service and was referred to "Chris", but we had to email him. We emailed photos and he said discoloration is "wear and tear". We requested the matter be escalated to his manager and received a reply from a "sales leader" in San Diego who said "wear and tear". He also said IKEA buys its products from different suppliers. Shouldn't a consumer expect to buy a white kitchen and have it stay white for a reasonable amount of time? They have not sent anyone out to look at the cabinets in person, or offered to discuss this further. I asked for his manager and he has failed to respond with the name in over a week. If you are considering an IKEA kitchen, reconsider your decision unless you want a substandard piece of junk installed in your home with a warranty that is worthless.

"Categorically unhelpful"
Our small contracting company did a kitchen remodel for a customer in 2013. He waited five years to complain to us that some of the Ikea cabinets had yellowed, leaving him with mismatched cabinets, some white, some ivory. By the time of his complaint, we had purged our job file. I notified Ikea, since this was a product, not installation complaint and they absolutely refused to do ANYTHING, wouldn't even come out and inspect because we no longer had the paper receipt. I provided them with clear photos of the Ikea labels still on the cabinets, as well as evidence of the difference in color. Their installer had a source to make discontinued cabinet door sizes, but Ikea even refused to let us work with them!

"Great cabinets, Great delivery service"
We bought the bottom of the line Skelton planning to discard the cheap fronts and replace with Bamboo plywood. We did not bother with the awkward feet and clip on base; solid wood base with black face to match countertop. We have also replaced the sink floor with MDO plywood and sealed all edges to prevent damage from the inevitable water leaks. The hardware and steel drawers are top quality and everything fits together perfectly. The grain matched faces receive rave reviews. Everything fits perfectly, assembly was quick and easy, and adjustments simple. Ordering took about 10 minutes over the phone and the whole kitchen was delivered and unloaded three weeks later. There were missing pieces and as noted elsewhere, Ikea service is useless. Their trucking company is awesome and immediately took care of the problem. A++ boxes, drawers and hardware. C- fronts; D- service. Total cost: Less than $3500 for 9 cabinets, faces and 17 feet of countertop..

"Frustrating Experience"
Planning and ordering our Ikea kitchen went very smoothly however our biggest mistake was ordering a custom quartz countertop through Ikea. Having priced out the same Caesarstone counter through other suppliers we decided to order it through Ikea as this appeared to be a simple 1 -step process and we were confident that everything would come together nicely if ordered in one place. This was a horrible mistake! Ikea hires a sub-trade to measure and install the countertop which started out fine, the sub-trade calls to make an appointment to measure and template. The first attempt they cancel at 2pm on the day they are to arrive (between 1-4pm) - one day off work wasted. The following week they finally measure and let me know the countertop will be another $678 as they need more material. I ask for the price and details to be emailed to me but receive nothing until the day before they are scheduled to install and I am told I have 2 hours to drive to Ikea and pay this immediately or my installation will be delayed (on line and phone payments are not accepted). I inform the countertop company I would like to discuss with Ikea and they warn me not to as this will delay my project weeks to months. The rush payment and being told not to talk to Ikea makes me feel like something is not right. I decide to speak to Ikea about the upcharge however they have no information on this and I am told they do not get involved with custom countertops and this is a contract between me and the sub-trade. I try in vain to explain that my contract is with Ikea since I paid Ikea and I never selected the countertop company - in fact I was never even given the contact information for the countertop firm. After reviewing my countertop order I notice that the measurements Ikea input from the kitchen layout design (that they reviewed) was incorrect - thus pricing the countertop lower than it should be. If it was input properly Ikea's price would have been $900 more than other firms and I would have elected to hire a local countertop firm directly. I contact Ikea customer service but they are no help - I had to explain my situation 6 times and the best they could suggest was that I come into the store so we could call the countertop company together. As we all know Ikea is not Tim Hortons so it's not just a 2 minute drive away. I suggest it would be more efficient if Ikea calls the countertop company and calls me back, they agree and tell me they would get back to me in a day... a week later I call back and even with a customer service number no one know what the concern is or what has been done. Weeks later no countertop, no resolution and I am out $6800. I am left being told that the measurement error is my problem and I need to deal with the countertop company. I call Ikea to let them know I would like to cancel the order and I am told this can be done but I need to go to the store. At the store I am told I cannot cancel the order as I need a form from the countertop company (they need proof the countertop is not installed already). Again I am the one that needs to contact the countertop company. I don't have the phone number so I ask if they can make a quick call and confirm (I am the only person at customer service). The Ikea employee agrees she will call, so I wait. A few minutes later she asks me if she can help me ( I am the only one there) and I remind her of the phone call and she says 'oh you want me to call now? I was going to do this later.' I let her know I made a special trip into the store for this so if she has the time to resolve this matter it would be helpful to me. She hesitantly agrees to have her manager call. An hour later I am told they hope to have this sorted out soon but my time has run out and I need to leave. I ask if I can they can credit the amount to my credit card without me being there, as they should have all the info. The store manager informs me that I need to wait and although its taken over an hours if I need to leave that is my problem, no theirs. I am left frustrated. I have taken numerous days off work to meet with installers, spent hours on the phone, driven to Ikea for no reason and in the end get no service from Ikea. It appears Ikea is happy to take my money, make mistakes on my order and hides behind 'procedures' to shift blame and make the resolution process very time consuming and frustrating. Real customer service would have communicated with the countertop firm, investigated the increased cost, found the error, admitted a mistake and honored the price - all within a few days and a phone call.
