"HomeCrest cabinet door hinges problem"
I also have the same problem with the hinges no longer holding door shut as a plastic piece broke off on several of my doors. The lumber yard where I purchased them said I was opening the door to far. Well that is not the case... They could not get me the same kind of hinges for my HomeCrest cabinets and the ones they sold me are a poor fit and my cabinets are looking crooked and askewed.

"Plastic pieces in hinges broken"
We also have HomeCrest cabinets that were installed in our home when it was built in 2003. We are the third owners of the home. My husband and I are in our sixties and are not mistreating the cabinets in any way, yet the plastic inserts in the hinges are breaking and now the cabinet doors won't stay closed. There is no way to contact HomeCrest directly unless you know the dealer that installed the cabinets. The dealer's name was not conveyed to us. The number of complaints indicate that these hinges were defective when installed and should be replaced by the manufacturer, or at least the replacement parts should be supplied free of charge.

"Decent cabinets, but terrible hinges"
The cabinets are of overall good quality. The problem is with their door hinges. They use a small piece of nylon to provide tension for door closure. Unfortunately they crack with regular use and require expensive and time consuming replacements. You can't order them directly from HomeCrest... Heck they don't even include a customer service phone number. You're directed to a dealer, who then have to order them for you. My closest dealer is 32+ miles away. Will not purchase cabinets from a manufacturer that doesn't sell replacement parts directly.

"Cabinet Door Hinges Problem"
We also have the problem of every door hinge breaking. The plastic closure piece snaps off and the door doesn't close. Looking for replacement hinges!

"Homeowner"
We purchased all Home Crest cabinets for the kitchen and bathrooms, when our home was built 11 years ago. There is a plastic part inside the hinges that breaks and pops out. This causes the doors not to close properly. I have contacted the cabinet contractor a couple times and he has not come to evaluate the problem. The hinges need to be replaced because they are faulty.

"Horrible Cherry Cabinets"
Mine are still in the box and will not install. They are cherry autumn stain with a glaze. There are dings and unfinished gaps in the glaze and that is the best part. The extremes in the color range from nothing to very dark. Very poor quality and the HomeCrest Company will do nothing! There site shows hundreds of photos but because they state could be some slight variation in color, will not replace or make right. Do not purchase! There is no quality control and I would be embarrassed to say made in the USA.

"Dissatisfied"
Wanted a customized cabinet not a somewhat customizable cabinet. Very poor quality on the internal hardware, cheap plastic that allows drawers to shift too much right to left. We had to drill holes so the drawers would stay aligned. Also the end panels had to be cut fit our room and the decorative pieces we had to install on the end of the cabinets. Additional, pieces come with 3 inches of extra wood so you can make the cabinets fit your space... somewhat customizable.

"Thermofoil finishes peel on the doors"
We bought our home new in 2005 and have had thermofoil finishes on doors that have begun peeling. We replaced two and will replace another soon. I think I may just replace the doors with another make.

"Just try to find replacement parts"
Fairly happy with the cabinets but now that the hinges have sprung it's nearly impossible to find replacement parts - have to go through a dealer and they are few and far between. I work in the kitchen and bath industry and sell Master Brands other lines (Thomasville, Decora, and Martha Stewart) and still can't get replacement hinges. Beware!

"White homecrest cabinets"
I have over 40 cabinets and drawers. 4 cabinet doors and a drawer turned yellow after about 8 years. There are about 18 years old now and I can see a complete difference.

"Finish chips off. BEWARE!"
Re: homecrest cabinets. Since I bought my house, I had no choice of cabinetry and no warranty. Eight years in, the finish (not a stain, more like a thin plastic coating) is coming off in many places. You can remove it with a fingernail once it starts. The company showed no interest when I sent photos.

"Cabinets installed in 1995!"
We purchased this home in August 2011. The home was built in 1995 with HomeCrest cabinets, and they are absolutely great and in great shape. We have not had one single problem. The crown molding is installed upside down, but that has nothing to do with the quality at all. We purchased a larger fridge so had to replace the base and upper between the stove and fridge, and the new cabinets are also great. We got a free upgrade to all wood (no laminate sides), dovetailed, soft-close drawers--very nice.

"Maple cabinetry great value"
Love my new Homecrest Kitchen! I could have a higher quality finish for twice as much money, but the fit and finish I received is a great value for a family of five with a modest income. My money is well spent and I receive compliments from guests. My neighbor has a 15 year old Homecrest kitchen and had several hinges fail. The local dealer had new hinges to her within a week(at no charge)! The customer service I received from my designer/dealer was 2nd to none. All in all a great cabinet and a great experience!

"Homecrest Cabinets"
Seems like alot of people here were not informed well by their kitchen designer on the product. She gave us a choice of particle board, plywood side or all plywood box construction with Homecrest. We went with plywood in Cherry and are very happy. You should always do research before making a large investment!

"Door Frame"
Our Homecrest cabinets are not 2 years old yet, and one of the upper cabinet doors pulled apart from the frame. My husband removed the hinges to return the door to the distributor, and the door literally fell apart. We're an adult household, no children yanking on any doors or drawers...we'll see how the rest of Homecrest stands up.

"Lousy hinges and poor finish!"
Purchased these cabinets after they were recommended by Wolf Creek in Spearfish, South Dakota. These cabinets are as poor as the reputation of the Wolf Creek business. Stay away from both of them!

"CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP"
The "local" dealer showed me a sample of the shaker style cabinet door and since it appeared to be sturdy and made from maple with a painted white finish I went with the product - What showed up was cheap fiber board construction with tons of staples and the exterior has some type of flimsy finish which is now full of dents from the two people that the contractor said were experienced cabinet installers -They made dozens of holes in the walls trying to figure out how to install the cabinets - The cabinets are less than a year old and all of the seams on the Shaker doors are opening and you can see the sides and back of the cabinets separating - I could have bought better cabinets for a lot less money and had better service from any of the big box stores

I purchased Homecrest Cabinetry in July of last year. The cabinets had debris stuck in the finish, scars, dents, scratches and chips. I would never recommend to anyone!

"Sweet Deal"
Just remodeled my kitchen and was very please with final results. I chose HomeCrest Cabinetry because it is a good quality cabinet that fit my budget. My kitchen designer educated me on all the features and construction options they offer. I opted for the upgraded plywood construction and soft close drawers/doors-Great feature. I would recommend HomeCrest to my friends.
