"Beware"
Attention fellow kitchen designers and contractors! I feel it is my duty to share my recent experience with Essential Cabinets' Designer Choice Brand. Unfortunately, what should have been a smooth project turned into a nightmare due to their failure to provide confirmed and approved cabinets. One of the major mistakes was when a 90-inch high oven cabinet arrived as a 96-inch high one. As you can imagine, this simply cannot fit into a 90-inch space. The replacement, sent after a delay, had another issue. The microwave cut out was placed below the oven, which required my contractor to remake it on site using spare pieces. Talk about a time-consuming and frustrating experience for both me and my client. To add insult to injury, the 2427 corner wall cabinet that we ordered arrived as a 2424, resulting in a three-inch gap that simply cannot be overlooked. And let's not forget the back order that remained unfulfilled for a staggering two months, leaving my client's kitchen incomplete and me without a final payment. The doors for cabinet over oven had to be remade and after another six weeks arrived the wrong width for a cabinet that had been incorrect in height not width. Another six weeks and the kitchen was finished. Regrettably, Essential Cabinets showed no urgency in addressing these mistakes and rectifying the situation in a timely manner. Based on my personal experience, I strongly advise against doing business with this company. Have any of you encountered similar issues with Essential Cabinets? Please share your thoughts and let's ensure we all look out for each other in this industry.

"No Issues Here"
A designer/contractor renovated our kitchen very early in 2020. They carry the Designer Choice line, which we liked because it's manufactured here in Florida, and because the all-wood, framed construction, the styles and the colors met our needs. The installer was excellent, which is crucial: The installer is at least as important as the cabinet brand! We don't have a gourmet kitchen, but still we get compliments on it all of the time. We have had none of the problems that others have reported. Again, our renovation was pre-pandemic, so some things might have changed.

"Bad Experience"
This company is unprofessional and could care less about the quality of their product. I received a full kitchen and island with every door unable to close because they were to big. I was trying to sell the house and couldn't show it for weeks because of their mistake. I never received an apology, the only department that was heard from consistently was accounts receivable. They wanted payment before they even had a ship date for the correct doors.

"Just don't!"
Our kitchen remodel has been delayed 4 months so far because Designer's Choice cannot make a quality product. Cabinet doors, drawer fronts, panels and trim pieces have arrived mottled, unpainted, or with "bridging" - all that show a lack of quality in production. Some pieces have arrived scratched from poor shipping. The refrigerator panel is now ordered again - for the 5th time! After reading the reviews listed here, we're now concerned with continued problems and warranty issues. Be smart - get your cabinets somewhere else!

"My kitchen looks beautiful!"
I had my kitchen renovated in the beginning of the year & I am so happy with my kitchen! The designer & contractor that worked with me were so helpful! My designer recommended Designer's Choice the frameless line. I as well was super worried because I was reading negative reviews. But the designer reassured me that the company has done many upgrades & the quality is absolutely there for the price that it is. That was another thing I had to worry about. My kitchen is in the bigger side which means the cabinet order can add up! So, I needed to find something in the middle (slightly custom but affordable) and that's definitely what you get with Designers choice. I asked all the important questions. These are the few things that helped me decide on this company. Frameless is 3/4" thick all sides, it's all plywood construction, comes with lifetime warranty, they use Blumotion for their hinges and soft close drawers, the drawers are dovetailed, a lot of paint options & I was able to customize a few crazy sizes. I compared the price with 3 other lines that I also liked & the prices were ranging from 6-8K higher than Designer choice. I thought it was worth going with Designer choice since the price was pretty significant. As of now, my kitchen is absolutely beautiful! Love the full extension of the drawers & the soft close hinge works so great :) There was one cabinet door that came damaged, my contractor inspected all the cabinets upon delivery. He spoke to the designer and she had a new door delivered in 2 weeks. I would definitely recommend the frameless line (Designer Choice) to my friends/family. My whole experience from designing to my contractor installing the cabinets was great!

"Dover Door in White Paint (Looks great!)"
I'm very confused by all the negative reviews. I'm wondering if the company where customers bought their cabinets if, they are doing whatever necessary to make sure that their clients are happy. I worked with a designer throughout my whole process. Remodeled my Kitchen and bathroom in Designer's Choice and the finish & quality was great. I understand it wasn't going to be Quakermaid but, really it wasn't bad at all. What really won me over is the price, the box being 3/4" thick, frameless & having lifetime warranty. I had two cabinets that were out of square & my designer caught it on time and asked them to be redone & within two weeks we received the new cabinets. I think it's important for the company/designer to be apart of the whole process this way they can troubleshoot anything that might go wrong in a timely fashion. Especially, clients like me that work all day. Just wanted to share my experience with Designer's Choice. I'm pretty happy with my cabinets.

"Worst Product Ever"
We had a terrible experience with the designers choice product, and the company. Our cabinets were chipping, cracking, bubbling, and literally falling apart inside of a year. The manufacturer sent someone out who quickly denied a warranty claim, saying it was "water-damage"...to every cabinet in the kitchen, including cracks on the insides of the doors. I would never buy this company’s products or recommend them to anyone.

"Run dont walk away from these cabinets"
Our cabinets have been in for about a month and we have had numerous problems from the construction quality (very poor), drawers not completely glued, a damaged cabinet was put together with drywall screws and installed anyhow, several of the soft close drawer rails are not working already and some were not even attached in the back of the cabinet. Our contractor is very slow to respond to the issues or does not respond at all. I suspect that the cabinet maker is also not responsive to the issues with the cabinets. For what these cost, we could and should have put in Kraftmaid but our contractor doesn't deal in those.

"Confused by the many terrible reviews... We like our new cabinets!"
After seeing the reviews on this website, my husband and I were concerned about ordering this brand of cabinets. We are finishing our basement and installing a full wet bar, so we did not want to “overbuy” and install custom cabinets. This area of our home will be used for barware and entertaining, so it won’t get the heavier demands of a primary kitchen. Designers Choice are not custom cabinetry, although you have plenty of options to pick pieces that fit your design choices, resulting in a semi-custom look. Given that we could afford custom cabinetry, my husband and I contacted our contractor prior to installation to ask his opinion on brands. He’s not a salesman, nor is he affiliated with the company. He basically said all cabinetry in this price range us very comparable and the biggest factor in functionality will be in the way it is installed. If the many reviewers had inexperienced installers, or installed their own cabinetry with little experience without properly adjusting hinges, of course things won’t work properly. These cabinets are extremely affordable, and for the price point you are getting dovetailed drawer boxes, plywood cabinet boxes, soft close hinges... we were actually surprised at how nice they are given the price! There are many door styles and colors to choose, which steered us to this brand over our kitchen store’s other brands. My advice to cabinet shoppers... pick a reputable kitchen design store that will help you understand what you are purchasing, educate yourself on the difference between custom and stock cabinetry, and hire a reputable installer. You will save yourself a lot of headaches! You always run the risk of damage when having kitchen cabinets delivered to you, and there can always be defects due to the nature of wood, but a reputable store will help you navigate those problems and remedy them appropriately. We were very pleased with this purchase (which as early 2018), And so far have no complaints.

"Nothing but junk"
I was told by Acadiana kitchen and bath(remodeler) these were high end cabinets and paid an average of $1,000.00 per cabinet,( I know the remodeler rip me off) what I got was very low end cabinets. Nails sticking out, corner braces made out of plastic, missing glue in some areas, ends not sanded, nail holes barely filled, not even 1/2 inch plywood, the units are filled with knot holes filled with putty, side panels delaminating. They do not return calls and if you do get someone to answer their phone they say "we can't talk to you. only to contractors"(customer service Tosh Smith)(sales rep Jimmy Fables never returned call) Wish I could post the photos. their cabinets are junk

"Misrepresentation Choice Cabinets in Ohio - Buyer Beware!"
We ordered Choice Cabinets in June 2017. The selection we chose was a shaker style cabinet and it was suppose to be Aspen White. It should have been a nice crisp, bright white, not at all what we got. We have called "Choice" CEO and Wood Wurth Group. We are still disputing the color. and quality of the cabinet! We have cabinets on the top and bottom and they are variations of white! We are a military family and they did not do right by us! Will never recommend "GraniTech in Springfield, VA either. The owner of GraniTech and CEO of Choice have alot to be desired! Terrible cabinets, unprofessional staff and lazy owners' and CEO. GraniTech used cabinets from other brands and used a outside vendor aside from Choice Cabinet and Wood Wurth Group to paint the cabinets which explains all the variations in color! Terrible really that a company can do such deceitful misinformation and sell as top quality cabinets which they are not!

"Drawer box"
I will start by saying I love the color and paint job on my cabinets. My disappointment is in the drawer boxes. Even though the drawer fronts are 11-12 inches high, the actual boxes are only 6 inches deep. The drawer openings will accommodate 8 in boxes so not sure why. In this bathroom I was particularly concerned about storage, so it's why I noticed.

"Kitchen designerD"
When I started with this company they had better quality cabinets. They use cheaper hinges and hardware now so it's almost impossible to adjust doors and drawers desirably. Their quality control is nil and I was not happy at all with the last kitchen I ordered. Doors and drawers were a nightmare to align. Quality control seems to have been lost.

"Run, terrible company!"
One year later and my kitchen cabinets are still not finished. Poor quality and workmanship! Poor customer service! Over 5 failed "fixes" by designers choice each one taking six to eight weeks in between. Contractor who recommended and even made a drive an hour to get to showroom works for them as salesman. Last install after more replacements suggested that we shouldn't even bother to change because we've lived with them like this for a year!?! So in what will be year number two I will be contacting my attorney!

"Terrible"
Do not purchase. Went to local showroom requesting a different brand but was convinced to buy this "quality cabinet". Drawers on vanity never worked properly. Contractor attempted to fix them but one year later still not working. Door are extremely thin and cheap in quality. Overall, a poor quality cabinet. I would love to rip these 1 year old cabinets out and start again. Please do not purchase these cabinets!
