"Less-than-truthful claims and poor quality"
False claims & disappointing workmanship regarding Catskill's Model 54238 are as follows: 1. Drawer parts are not "all solid wood". The back side of the drawer is made of veneered particle board. 2. Back and sides of cabinet are also veneered particle board. 3. One of the spice rack shelves was 1/4-inch longer, and 3/8-inch wider than the other. Said shelf was also lacking pilot holes. You'll need a table saw, drill and drill bit to remedy the problem. 4. Nickel-finish door/drawer pulls are very nice, but the towel-rack bar and spice-rack rods are chrome. Matching finishes would have been a nice thought. 5. Rails and stiles were cut with a dull router bit, and apparently there is no sandpaper in the Catskills - you're going to need some 220 sandpaper to clean up some poorly-routed edges. 6. One door was broken. It could not have been caused by shipper. It's sad when an employee sees a flawed item and ships it anyway. Said door had two, 4-inch vertical cracks, extending from the top and bottom of the right stile. 7. Although the panels of cupboard doors are often made of joined hardwood, I've never seen joined wood used on the rails and stiles. A new low in craftsmanship in my opinion... 8. One Positive - I called the company regarding the cracks in the door, and their response was very warm and professional. A replacement door was shipped the same day.

"Think before you buy"
Please do yourself a favor and think before you purchase this cabinet it is not worth the trouble and hassle. We bought this cabinet for our house before we do not have much storing space and we have a lot of stuff. We were kind of skeptical at first about spending so much money on it but the sales clerk said it was worth it because he wanted to make a sale probably. We got home and found out it had a lot less space than though initially. It has a bad setup which makes it hold even less stuff than it should for its size. We thought the "wood" finishing on it would be a nice touch, but it is a cheap cover up. Overall it is not worth the price at all and I wish we had gone with something more affordable. I do not recommend it to anyone at all.

"My New Kitchen Cabinet"
Ten years ago when I was undergoing extensive kitchen rennovations for my new state of the art kitchen due in fact of my culinary profression I pressed hard to find the ideal kitchen island and cabinet combination that would suit my culinary needs. So after long research online I came across Catskill Craftsmen who is a widely known maker of kitchen appliances and tools so I decided to go to my Sears and see this cabinet in person and after a few glances I was beyond impressed not just by it's lovely wood work but also its funcionality which would meets my needs. I enjoy cooking rustic Italian cuisine so with that in mind it only makes sense that my kitchen reflects my cooking style and this cabinet is no dissapointment. Since I've owned this unit I have never had any issues with repair or replacement and it is virtually maintenance free. Since I was so impressed I decided to furnish my entire kitchen with Catskill Craftsmen products. Since then I've recommended it to all my chef friends.
