"not worth the money"
We wanted to upgrade our kitchen, after some research we decided to go with Candlelight Cabinets because they claim to make "resilient, durable, superior construction" which we ordered from Lyon & Billard Lumber Co. in Berlin. What a mistake that was. On November 9th 2022 we ordered Candlelight cabinets at Lyon & Billard and they were delivered to our house at the end of March 2023 and right away I noticed problems. The cabinets that were delivered to us were constructed from particle board and only the exposed ends are plywood (which we had wanted on everything). After I opened some more boxes they were also damaged. I called our rep, Ken, the day after the delivery and asked him why we got cabinets constructed from particle board. His response was because I had wanted to save some money. At that point I was so angry at him that I did not want to talk to him. A couple of days later I called him and reminded him of our conversation in November before ordering the cabinets; I had complained that the cabinets were pretty expensive, and he offered to save me $1000 if I ordered the box constructed from particle board instead of plywood. My response was that particle board is not suitable for kitchen cabinets and that I would have to replace them in a few of years. We were paying almost $30,000 for kitchen cabinets, so $1000 would not make a difference. We wanted to upgrade our kitchen and not downgrade, and the cabinets delivered to our house are of worse quality than we have now in our kitchen. We have never wanted particle board kitchen cabinets and never will. At first it looked like they were willing to try to solve our mess but 3 weeks after delivery they offered up 2 options both included only partial particle board replacement. I declined both options and wrote to him that the best option for us would be to return all the cabinets and get our money back (They wanted full payment before delivery, and I trusted them and paid it). I also told them that when they deliver what we ordered and the quality we expect for the price, I would pay them then. Of course, they did not want that. They ignored us for 2 months, so I asked the BBB and the Connecticut Consumer Protection for help, which made things even worse. Ken insisted that I wanted particle board because in January 2023 I signed a ordered that had stated "box constructed- standard with veneered plywood on all exposed ends" which apparently meant particle board construction with only the visible parts plywood. However, I also mentioned that underneath that sentence it also said "box construction- all plywood" but according to them it could go either way. They never explained to me that standard construction meant particle board or gave me a detailed contract that I asked for. Now, 3 months after delivery, the cabinets are still in boxes in our garage and dining room. I must look for a lawyer to try to solve this mess. Our kitchen was supposed to be done by now and we should be enjoying it, instead we had to cancel our appliances and we are in this mess. Stay away from Lyon & Billard and because they talk sweet and nice before you give them your money. When any problem occurs do not expect them to try to solve it within reason. Also do not be naïve like me and pay full price for a product you haven't seen. Stay away from Candlelight cabinets they not worth the money.

"Made in USA"
We just had our cabinets installed 4 months ago and so far they look fantastic. Sales rep. highly suggested to go with all MDF door if painted (swelling and shrinkage of wood in the North East happens with all doors, but is most noticeable on a white painted door) but we decided to go with painted maple (or paint grade hardwood) with MDF center panel (shaker style). We did have a minor issue with the lazy susan, but a rep. came to the house to look at the problem, ordered new doors from the company and came back to install them (Thank you Bill). What I esp. like about this company... it's small, local, US made, and they were exceptional about dealing with any questions or problems. I was also impressed with the video on their website.

"Poor workmanship"
We got custom cabinetry from Candlelight Cabinetry in June 2018. One year later we are on our second set of cabinet doors. Many of them split down the seams, there is one set especially that have lacquer chipping and flaking. We were told in February that these would all be replaced as they are still under warranty. We are still waiting. It's been so frustrating and definitely not worth the money. Beware. This is our third kitchen renovation and bar far the worst custom cabinetry I have ever come across.

"Well constructed, great stain and varnish"
We did a major kitchen expansion/remodeling a year ago. We used a large number of Candlelight 'socialite' cabinets in maple with an autumn stain. The fit, stain and finish is very uniform and well done on a hard wood. They look beautiful after a year with a lot of use. We have a lot of rollout shelves, and the mounting hardware is very solid, as are the self-closing doors.

"Kitchen Renovation"
Did a complete kitchen remodel and after reading great reviews of Candlelight Cabinetry, decided to go with this brand. We went through our dealer for the kitchen design, went with painted wood cabinets. Upon delivery, we noticed problems with the finish on the cabinets. There were areas that were not finished well. After contacting our dealer, a representative was sent out. We showed them the problem areas. They took some of the worst of the cabinet doors (not all of them) to refinish. The refinished cabinet doors did look better after being refinished, however, we still notice that the finish on these cabinets does not last long. We have only been in our kitchen but a few months, they scratch and chip easily, and we are very careful in our kitchen. I would not recommend this line. Though they are constructed well, the painted factory finish is poor.

"Incredible cabinetry"
We built a new home through the gvep Building trades program. We wanted quality products in our new home. In searching for cabinetry we found Candlelight and knew this was the product we wanted. Excellent craftsmanship, excellent quality, beautiful finish. Baker's Frontier Kitchens, from Batavia, ny created the plans for us. They were incredibly patient in meeting our needs. We love the cabinets so much we are now installing more! We are older adults and know the value of a quality product. Install these cabinets and they will last a lifetime!

"Excellent Cabinets"
We remodeled our kitchen in 2004 and chose Candlelight and have absolutely no regrets. The quality is superb and have had no problems for the 11 years we've used them. They are high end furniture quality. We will be building a new house and plan on purchasing Candlelight again.

"Great Cabinets and Workmanship"
We shopped extensively for kitchen cabinets. We decided on Candlelight Cabinetry after hearing of its reputation at Rings End in Bethel, CT. We liked the selection and chose them over a strong contender. We are happy to say that the cabinets were flawless and adorn our kitchen. We would say they are reasonably priced, and we spent about 10% of our home value on the renovation. We didn't do new appliances or elaborate lighting in the renovation. We recommend this brand without reservation.

"Poor Quality Control"
We are almost finished with our new kitchen. The timeline has been weeks longer than necessary due to 7 different quality control issues with the cabinets in a small kitchen. The errors range from wrong size corner cabinet, wrong doors, defective door (poorly glued on piece, guess they thought we wouldn't notice), shelves too small, shelves too big, incorrect holes drilled for shelves so they were tilted, shelves that could only be installed below the glass door mullions so they had to be re-drilled, missing Super Susans on reorder only one came instead of two... and on and on. Frankly, I love the cabinets. They are solid and functional. It is the abysmal failure of quality control that makes me unable to recommend Candlelight Cabinets to anyone.

"Sturdy Solid Cabinets"
We have owned these cabinets for approximately 10 years. What we like about them is that they are solid and sturdy and seem as though they will last a lifetime. The other thing I really like about these cabinets is that in my opinion they are timeless. The style, color and material is basic and simple. The only thing I dislike about my cabinets is that I wish I would have chosen a lighter color. I have not had to repair or replace these cabinets, and don't think I ever will need to. I would absolutely buy the same brand again and recommend it to a friend. We actually went out of our way in order to purchase this particular brand because of a positive review from someone else.
