Kemper (MasterBrand) Kitchen Cabinets

As a provider of kitchen cabinets, MasterBrand carries several brands under its name, and one of the most distinctive is Kemper. The Kemper line offers a variety of styles and woods including maple, cherry, hickory, oak and laminate.

Additionally, Kemper cabinets come with a wide choice of finishes on each wood type and many options for decorative mouldings and accents. They have a full line of specialty glass doors and hardware choices. Shelves are made from 3/4" thick furniture board; drawer construction is 3/4" hardwood dovetailed with undermount self-closing drawer guides. All door styles feature 6-way adjustable hinges (and a self-closing door option is available). Cabinet sides, tops, and bottoms are made from 1/2" furniture board (plywood upgrades are available). Cabinet backs are made from 3/8" thick furniture board, although a plywood upgrade is available here as well.

History of Kemper (MasterBrand)

The Kemper brand began in 1926 by the Kemper Bros in Richmond, Indiana and is America's oldest cabinet maker. Two years later, the first freestanding cabinets were produced.

In 1965, Kemper merged with the Tappan Company and experienced a number of different ownerships over the next 30 years. In 1998, MasterBrand was formed to include the Kemper brand and other cabinet makers Schrock and Diamond. The parent company of MasterBrand is Fortune Brands.

Warranties

Since 2001, all Kemper kitchen cabinets come with a limited lifetime warranty which means that for as long as the original consumer owns the home in which the cabinets are installed, those cabinets are guaranteed to be "free of defects in material and workmanship." The current warranty represents a significant improvement over the 1-year warranty that came with all products until 1996. Between 1996 and 2001, product warranties changed several times and were different for different cabinet lines. Warranty questions about cabinets purchased during that time are best directed to the company.
