A popular model is the Frost-Free Top Mount design with the tabletop freezer shelf and optional icemaker that can be purchased separately. Tappan refrigerators are now manufactured by Electrolux and are widely available at most retailers that sell Electrolux products.
History
The Tappan brand of appliances was the brainchild of W.J. Tappan. Tappan began in 1889 as a manufacturer of cast iron stoves under the Ohio Valley Foundry Company in Bellaire, Ohio. Later they moved to Mansfield and the company changed names to the Eclipse Stove Company. A few years later it was finally named the Tappan Stove Company and went on to manufacturing microwave ovens in 1955.
Frigidaire took over the company and diversified into the production of refrigerators. Eventually in 1979, it came under the domestic appliance giant, Electrolux. Presently, Tappan refrigerators come under the Electrolux Home Products (EHP) in North America.
