History
Alfred Mellowes founded the Guardian Frigerator Company in 1915 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Guardian is one of several brands (along with Kelvinator) that claims to have introduced the first domestic refrigerator. In 1919, Mellowes' product was purchased by General Motors and re-named Frigidaire. Frigidaire was later acquired by White Consolidated Industries. Frigidaire was acquired by AB Electrolux in 1986.
