Caloric Refrigerators

Caloric refrigerators were manufactured from the 1920s until the late 1990s. Some models can still be found from used or vintage appliance sellers or other private sellers.

History

Caloric Corporation was founded in the early 1900s as a stove manufacturer. By the 1920s there were hundreds of appliance companies, and like many of them, Caloric began making refrigerators. Competition was stiff and larger companies bought smaller ones, eventually leading to the conglomerates in evidence these days.

Raytheon purchased Caloric in 1967, and in 1991, they combined Speed Queen and Caloric marketing with the Amana lines. (Raytheon acquired Amana in 1965). By 1993, Caloric operated as part of Amana. In the late 1990s, Raytheon closed the Caloric Corporation in Topton, PA. The Maytag Corporation purchased Amana Appliances in 2001. Whirlpool now owns Maytag.

Warranty

Because Caloric refrigerators are no longer manufactured the only relevant warranties are those that might come from a parts seller or an independent appliance shop on their work. Parts warrantees are generally 90 days, and labor guarantees vary.
